To really see it all you need your own transport, there is no substitute for being able to drive around this wonderful country yourself. If you go on a tour you will only be able to stop at the pre-planned destinations, meaning that you will miss out on some of the more out of the way spots and those spontaneous moments of itinerary change that are what travelling is all about. These vans are great for the low budget traveller and many of them have funky, one of a kind graphics on them, meaning that you are not just another sheep in your all white van.

While seeing New Zealand in a campervan is a great way of getting to those out of the way spots, it doesn’t mean you have to spend the whole time on your own. There are thousands of fantastic camp grounds dotted around the country where you can pull up for the night and use the amenities. As an added bonus you will also meet other travellers who you can swap stories with or even convoy with for the rest of your trip.
